22ct gold, vitreous enamel, peridot
The Kimono collection explores the Japanese tradition of containing pattern within circular forms. The pattern comes from diverse sources – miniature painting from the Royal Jodhpur collection, antique kimonos and 17th century Syrian damasks. This particular piece was inspired by a garment in a catalogue for an exhibition of antique kimono at the V&A in the 1970s. The peridot has a remarkable clarity, particularly for a stone of this scale.
