The Shared Faith collection explores the multicultural connections that sit behind meaningful symbols, reminding us that many peoples and places contribute to the evolution of ideas - that no form, pattern or concept belongs exclusively to any place, people or time.
The collection was sparked by a commission for a Hamsa, the Hand of Fatima, a form whose heritage has parallels in all the symbols Alice has created. The Hamsa has meaning for all of the major Abrahamic religions, and most importantly, is a particularly feminine form of protection. Nurturing femininity, fertility, and compassion, with roots tracing back to ancient Mesopotamia, it is an open hand, held in the form of greeting.
Infusing the Hamsa with colour, the ultramarine of Yves Klein, representing infinity andthe "immaterial", and with a central spine of rising chakra stones, Alice began to thinkabout how she might work with other sacred symbols, bringing the same message of joy and unity to their reimagining.
Each piece is created in London, by mastercraftsmen highly skilled in their area’s of dedication. You can read more about the people who make Alice’s designs here. Made to order, the charms are shipped with a connector which can attach freely to your own chains, or a chain with 3 or 5 enamel links can be purchased here, and with additional connectors here.
